Projects financed

The PRF funded 27 research projects in 2008/2009 (see Annexure I). This is five less than in the previous year. Four of the 27 projects were new projects whilst 23 were continuations of existing projects. There were 32 applications for financing of which one was declined, one was withdrawn and three were never started.

Seven projects (see Annexure II) were completed during the year, but final reports are only expected in the first half of 2009.

Regarding new research projects, two deal with the cultivation of canola in the Western Cape, one with soybeans and one seeks to improve the utilisation of protein in animal feed.

For 2009/2010, 30 applications were received of which six are new applications. These applications will be discussed in the next research report.
